Wet Fry Beef in Oyster Sauce

Happy New Year! It feels so good to be back! I had taken a break for a little over one month just to take a recap of the year and recalibrate. Soo, let’s get right to it with this years first recipe, wet fry beef in oyster sauce.

Having just concluded with the indulgence of the festive season, I’m certain that lots of fantastic meals were made and devoured. This recipe should be a part of your next celebration, whatever it may be.

Wet fry beef in oyster sauce

The beef is tender, the aromatics delightful and the oyster sauce lends an incredible sweetness to the dish. Oyster sauce is thicker and sweeter than dark soy sauce.

Ingredients

500g Beef

1 Large Red Onion (sliced)

3 Cloves Garlic (crushed)

1 tsp Ginger (crushed)

½ cup fresh Coriander

1 small green bell pepper

3 tbsps Oyster Sauce

½ tsp Black Pepper

1 tbsp Sage

½ tsp Turmeric

2 Tomatoes (diced)


Instructions

Dice up the beef and put in in a saucepan over medium heat and cover with a lid. Let it release its juices and cook in them for about 10 minutes until the juices dry out on their own.

Boiling beef

When you begin to hear the crackling sound, add vegetable oil, stir and allow to heat for one minute. Now drop in the onions and cook for about two minutes until they are soft and translucent. Add the crushed garlic and ginger and cook for thirty seconds as you stir.

Frying beef

Take half the coriander, preferably the stalks, and roll them into the pot for a further 30 seconds. As they are cooking, sprinkle in the black pepper, turmeric and sage.

After the 30 seconds for the coriander are done, pour in the oyster sauce and stir it in. At this point the aroma in the kitchen is, bewitching!

The tomatoes, at this point, are feeling ghosted so invite them to the party! Bell pepper should come along too😉.

Beef oyster

Lower the heat and cover the pot for about ten minutes, stirring when necessary. Pour in half a cup of water  (or more if desired) and let it simmer for another ten minutes.

To complete this dish, sprinkle in the remaining coriander  (remember it?), stir for a minute and you are ready to serve 😊.

 

You may devour your wet fry beef in oyster sauce with fried rice, chapatis, pasta or ugali.
