I made cumin seed fried rice for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised at how this tiny seed can totally transform a rice dish! This rice is aromatic, pretty and absolutely delectable!
Wow! If I could package the aroma in my kitchen right now and send it over to you in a tiny blue box, you would be blown away! Even before I cooked the mbuzi fry in mint and cumin, I marinated it in yogurt and herbs like sage and oregano for 24 hours in the fridge. The aroma is spicy, minty, woodsy…an intoxicating bouquet.
I did not see this spicy nduma recipe coming. It is mid morning and i am feeling peckish. And yes, i did have a standard continental style like breakfast. I saunter into the kitchen and take a peek into the fridge. The already boiled nduma was perched right there, on one of the racks. The idea of plain old nduma didn’t excite me so i decided to give it a very quick fry…something savory. Yup! That would definitely be better!
