This spicy sausage pizza is topped up with olives, bell peppers, spicy sausage, carrot, onions and the awesome goodness of cheese. The flavors and textures of this pizza are amazing. You have the tang of the tomato, the spicy sausage, the zest of the onion, the soft crust, the slightly briny olives and the melted cheese. Great news! The versatility of making pizza means that you can add or omit any ingredients you want. Your pizza, your choice 🙂
Pizza is right up there on the list of tasty, quick home meals to prepare. A must have for your meal calendar. The quick tip with this is to prepare the dough in advance and you are good as gold! You can make a large batch, divide it into portions and refrigerate or freeze depending on how often you plan to be making pizza. Once a week is not bad, i think.
To prepare yourspicy sausage pizza dough, check out my post Quick and Simple Pizza Dough. I used regular white flour crust. Soft and fluffy perfection.
- Pizza dough
- Tomato paste
- 1 Sliced red onion
- 2 grated carrots
- 1 tea spoon garlic powder
- 1 tomato
- 4 Spicy beef sausages
- 1 Green bell pepper
- Green olives (to taste)
- Cayenne pepper (Optional)
- 200g Parmesan cheese
- Black Pepper
- Olive oil
Fry the sausages slightly, just enough for the skin to get lightly brown. Slice into bite sized pieces and set aside. Make sure all your vegetables are ready to go. Dice, chop, grate.
Dust the counter top with flour and roll out the dough to a round shape. You can actually roll the dough to whatever shape you want. I remember my daughter rolling and cutting out a rectangle!! Everything in me screamed out NOOO!!! In my head, pizzas are round. Square pizzas can be made in my absence.
Once your dough is rolled out, apply tomato paste as your base. Pinch the ends of the dough to prevent any spillages. Pre heat the oven to 200 degrees centigrade.
Now comes the fun part! Pile on whatever toppings your heart desires 🙂
- Sprinkle garlic powder and cayenne pepper (optional).
- Bring out the grated carrots.
- Lay on the sliced onions
- Sprinkle the bell pepper.
- Add the cubed tomato.
- Enter the pitted green olives.
- Stack on the sausage slices.
- Crown with (copious amounts of 🙂 ) CHEESE!!!
- Sprinkle oregano and black pepper.
- Drizzle a light amount of olive oil.
How much fun was that! Now put the pizza in the pre-heated oven. Set the timer for 20 minutes. If you would like the crust more crunchy, you can add 5-10 more minutes.
Thirty minutes later, the pizza is ready 🙂 Sprinkle some more cheese if you like (you should 🙂 )
