Chilli Beef with Spaghetti

Chilli Beef Spaghetti

This chili beef and spaghetti dish is hot, spicy and delicious. A must have in my pantry is pasta. I can’t count the number of times pasta has come through for me.The quintessential quick fix.

Now, it would not be your typical quick fix if the accompanying dish took eons to prepare, now would it? So essentially, a quick beef wet fry would chime in quite well šŸ™‚

Chilli Beef Spaghetti


Ingredients

For the Beef

  1. 500g beef
  2. 1 Red onion
  3. 1 Tea spoon ground ginger
  4. 3 Cloves crushed garlic
  5. 1 Table spoon dark soy sauce
  6. 1/2 Tea spoon Sage
  7. 1 Green bell pepper
  8. 2 Tomatoes
  9. 2 Carrots
  10. 1/4 cup coriander
  11. 2 Green chillies

For the Spaghetti

  1. 1 packet of Spaghetti
  2. 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
  3. 1 knob of butter (20g)

Let’s Cook!

Wash the beef and dice it into small pieces. I find chunky pieces to be quite cumbersome with pasta. In a sufuria/saucepan, heat 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Place the beef in the saucepan and sear it until browned.

Add diced red onion, ginger and garlic and lower the heat. Cook for one minute then add soy sauce and sage. Cook for another minute then add the tomatoes and one whole chilli that has been cut once along its length. Stir and add one a cup of beef stock. Allow to cook for twenty minutes on low heat.

Add green bell pepper and carrots. Stir in and cook for ten minutes. Add the coriander and cook for five more minutes before turning off the heat.

For the spaghetti, fill a large sauce pan with water. It should be enough to cover the spaghetti. Bring to a boil and add the salt. When the water boils add the spaghetti. I usually break the spaghetti twice.

Cover with a lid and let it cook for 8-10 minutes.


Quick Tip

Because I am always trying out different brands, i always check the instructions with regard to the cook time. Some spaghetti are thicker or thinner than others.


When the spaghetti is cooked al dente, drain the water out. Take the butter and fold it into the spaghetti. This adds flavour and a sweet aroma. Check out another awesome pasta dish here.
